Appleby to Kirkby Stephen - along the River Eden
Some delightful easy trail running along the River Eden visting the historic town of Brough en route, and return via the scenic Settle Carlise Railway.
Kirkby Stephen to the Moorcock Inn
The Upper Eden Valley has seen it all, from Uther Pendragon's attempts to re-route the River Eden to form a moat around his castle, to the blasting and building of that engineering masterpiece, the Settle to Carlisle railway line. Over the centuries, this valley has been a major thoroughfare for travellers. Along the route we'll witness some modern sculpture, follow the Eden to its source, then cross from Cumbria into North Yorkshire. After completing the run you can sit back and let the train take the strain, on the Settle-Carlisle itself, as we return to our starting point.
